How to use LaoUniKey
Once the configuration step is done, then you can use the software.
To swich between the English mode and the Lao mode, you may use any of the three following operating modes.
1) Click on the
icon to switch to the Lao mode. The icon then becomes
and the input is in Lao.
Click again on the icon to switch back to the English mode.
2) Use one of the hotkeys, Ctrl-L or Pause, if they have been activated during the configuration step.
3) Display the LaoUniKey window (thanks to a right click on the icon) and click on "Latin" or on "Lao" directly in the window.
NB 1: If you happen to use LaoUniKey with Word under Windows 95, 98 ou Me, you'll need to configure Word in such manner that the "Smart cut and paste" check box (which is in Tools => Options => Edit) is unchecked. This avoids the insertion of spaces every time a letter is typed.
With Word, you should better use LaoWord which is dedicated to this word processor. LaoWord is downloadable from the Lao Software Web site.
NB 2: If LaoUniKey does not work with a software you want to use (as it is the case with MSN.Groups and with Paratext), add the following line in the file LaoUniKey.ini (this file is located in the Windows directory):
Mode Win32 Windows=Oui
If you are using a software that has no such problem, please remove the line or replace "Oui" with "Non":
Mode Win32 Windows=Non
