LaoUniKey - Unicode fonts

Unicode fonts

Today, several Lao characters fonts complying with the Unicode standard are available.
Among them can be found some fonts of good quality but some others are not that good.
Many of them are free and can be downloaded from the Internet.

Several Web sites :

Lao Software : MahaSila, PhrasongLao (Grégory Kourilsky): MahaSila is included in LaoUniKey
Lao Script for Windows : Saysettha OT... (John Durdin): Fonts that work quite well
Asian Fonts : JG Basic Lao... (Jason Glavy): Very nice glyphs but problem with the accents
Unicode Support in Your Browser : Code2000 (James Kass): Very complete font but problem with the accents (shareware)

Nota 1: As fonts are related to the operating systems (Windows...), we generally do not distribute them with our software packages. The MahaSila font, included in LaoUniKey with the kind permission of Grégory Kourilsky, is an exception. As the LaoFrance font distributed with LaoWord, it allows the users to be autonomous from the very beginning. If you wish to try other fonts, you'll have to download and to install them in your computer. To install fonts, please see the Windows help (and contact us if you meet any problem).

Nota 2: The Arial Unicode MS font (distributed together with several Microsoft products) does not work correctly yet (problem with the accents and with the above / below vowels).
